Sam Chaplin is a singer, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist with a gift for engaging audiences and powerful vocals. As a song-writer, if there’s something going on in Sam’s life - it gets worked out at his piano. The result is a collection of songs over the years marking loves and losses, findings and losings. He’s always been drawn to other musicians who do the same whether it’s Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Rufus Wainright or Ray Charles - you can hear those strands of honesty, lyrical twists, and jazz inflections flowing through his songs.
Sam leads song-writing workshops and choirs with vulnerable adults and children. He is musical director for the Choir With No Name in London a choir for people affected by homelessness and also runs song-writing workshops in prisons with young people with disabilities from the Orpheus Centre.
Sam has performed world-wide with his high-energy swing/jive band Jazzbomb with live shows at jazz clubs across London, they have also performed for private and corporate events in Monaco, Geneva, Baku, Dubai and across the UK. They have performed with or for many well-known names: James Corden – “You guys are incredible”, Graham Norton “You really are very good!”, Miranda Hart “You rock!” and were described by Tatler Magazine as “Simply explosive!”
Over the last few years Sam has been performing his songs, showcasing them with a regular gig at The Pheasantry Pizza Express in Chelsea. Following a successful crowdfund campaign in 2019 Sam and his band hit the studio. The result is the album Back into Life. There are two parts to this title: the songs are a journey back into Sam’s life… but they’re also an uplifting call to listeners to jump back into life and embrace life and love.
During the pandemic Sam kept himself and many others round the world entertained by running a global online choir gathering hundreds of regulars from over 6 continents and also creating a string of humorous parody songs one of which went viral with over 1.3 million views.
